Daniel recently joined the RFA Planning team in 2018 and holds a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning from Ryerson University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario in Media, Information & Technoculutre. Bringing with him a set of unique skills, Daniel is responsible for working with the Senior Planners, assisting in the preparation of Planning Reports and preparing planning sketches for zoning, consents, official plan amendments and site plans.

Daniel has always had a passion for planning and issues that impact the public. Specifically, he has an interest in cities, development, the real estate industry and examining the impacts a development will have at the city, neighbourhood and street scales. Working in an environment where Daniel can learn from his colleagues, learn about who they are at heart and admire them for their diverse skillset is extremely important to Daniel.

Professional Experience

Daniel’s professional career involves working in a variety of industries in both large and small companies. While working at an economic development consultancy, Daniel took the lead on the early developmental stages on a Downtown Revitalization Strategy Report where he was responsible for identifying, compiling and analyzing growth management strategies and analyzing economic development policies within several central business districts across Canada. While working at an advertising agency in Toronto, Daniel was part of the Account Management Team and helped provide exceptional client service, while continually working on the development of brand strategy, the preparation of competitive reviews and research analysis.

During his time at Ryerson University, Daniel produced numerous planning reports. Specifically, he helped produce a report for York Region where he provided valuable insight and original recommendations on how to create a more family-friendly built environment, while complementing York Region’s vision of building a compact and mixed-use community. Daniel also had the opportunity to participate in a client-based studio with the Toronto Port Lands Company, where he and his team developed three comprehensive visions of catalytic developments to be implemented on three sites within Toronto’s Port Lands.

Through his working knowledge of the Planning Act, the Provincial Policy Statement, the Growth Plan and other regional and local planning policies, plans and guidelines, Daniel has provided valuable consultation and advice on development and land use related matters. Often described as a people-person, Daniel is a self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and is able to provide high-level client service.
